Each placement performed by Card Vascular includes not only an opportunity for staff education, but also provides the ability to provide vascular access education to the patient and family as well. This is a vital part of the process as it empowers the patient to take ownership of their vascular access device so they can advocate for themselves. This empowerment allows the patient and family to feel enabled to speak up against any unacceptable technique or maintenance of their access, helping to promote infection prevention, as well as lowering infection rates when the patient goes home.
Card Vascular ensures proper vascular access education on identification and use of various types of vascular access devices, including implanted port access, central lines, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC), peripheral venous catheter (PVC), and midlines.
Education includes central line dressing change, blood draws from a central line, proper flushing with the push-pause technique and medication administration. In addition, Card Vascular will educate staff on assessing and troubleshooting the catheter for any complications, use of sterile technique and proper maintenance according to AVA, CDC, and INS standards, thus helping reduce hospital acquired infections.
Hospital acquired infections not only affect patients overall health and wellness but are not covered by insurance and can directly affect the bottom line of the organization. Card Vascular specialists are experts in teaching infection prevention methodologies which empowers and educates your staff on how to properly maintain each line to help prevent infections and complications. By teaching aseptic and sterile techniques, such as, scrub the hub, dressing changes, and general maintenance of lines, this knowledge is passed to your staff and eventually to each and every patient that enters your healthcare system.
At Card Vascular we believe in not only being a vendor for you to rely on, but a true partner when it comes to vascular access. To this end, we provide a 24x7 service line for mentoring and support services. This is intended to provide your staff with access to vascular experts that can help troubleshoot issues, or answer questions around the clock, right when your staff needs it most. This service includes expertise on all vascular access lines, placement, and maintenance.
In addition to our support line, Card Vascular provides annual vascular access education for your staff to ensure that you are educated on the latest technology and methodologies.
